The 3rd Anniversary of My 29th Birthday
Kicked off the day with bible study, as per usual Friday schedule, followed by trip to bakery for bread (organic 12-grain) and gourmet lunch at home with kids (grilled cheese). Naptime. Blissful silence ensues, to be interrupted all too soon by wakefulness and playtime. Arrival of husband. Discussion follows:

S: What do you want for your birthday: a nice dinner out or a present?
A: (pondering) Nice dinner out means I don't have to cook...but no present... How about a not-so-nice dinner out?

Chick-fil-a it is! Usual fare, although addition of milkshake lends grand sense of occasion to the proceedings. Free brownie samples (!) and playtime in the self-contained toddler virus incubator...er, playground.

Celebrants adjourn to Lowe's for new paint to coordinate with birthday present: drapery fabric for new house. Samples mixed ("Steamer Trunk" and "Olive Branch Gold"). Marital disagreement about sample size resolved.

Back at the ranch, children retire for the evening. Paint samples tested on kitchen and bedroom: "Olive Branch Gold" approved; "Steamer Trunk" deemed nice but too dark. Chocolate-covered strawberries. Fell asleep watching Planet Earth.

It was a good day.
